Who is a metal processing technician-technologist and what can they do?

A technician-technologist is an intermediate-level specialist prepared to supervise skilled workers and, after gaining experience, to manage the operations of a first-level department in a metalworking company.

How can one become a metal processing technician-technologist?

Form of study: non-stationary session study or workplace-based learning, one day per week.

Duration of study: 1 year.

Volume of company internship: 15 ECTS credits (approximately 390 astronomical hours).

Prerequisite for starting: secondary education, at least a qualification level 4 in the relevant field or relevant work experience.

Upon completion of the program, students take a final exam or, if desired, a paid level 5 professional exam (see certification granting).

What is learned?

The curriculum involves learning and applying the main technological processes and equipment in the field of metal processing, acquiring practical skills on a variety of technological devices: computer-controlled metal cutting machines, various sheet processing, welding, and finishing equipment, and developing skills for teamwork and supervision.

What comes next?

The curriculum provides vocational and professional preparation that enables employment as an intermediate-level specialist in the field of metalwork. Graduates of the level 5 vocational education may proceed to further studies in applied higher education or bachelor's programs.
